There are so many great reasons to visit Disneyland! I spent my childhood going to Disneyland. Whenever my parents would ask me where I’d want to go next on vacation, I would ALWAYS say Disneyland. I think they were hoping I would choose someplace else, but why would I?  Disneyland is the most magical place on earth!  The feelings there are indescribable.  You have to experience it to know it. When I had kids of my own, I wanted them to love Disneyland and have the memories there that I did.  So that is where we spent the majority of their childhoods traveling to.  My husband, likes it ok but he doesn’t love it like I do. I’m really trying to break him down 😉 But my kids… I have ingrained in them a love of Disneyland so deep, that’s where they still ask to go (yes, even at 17 and 21). As the kids have started getting older, we have branched out, explored more of the world and been to some incredible places. But my heart is always calling me home to Disneyland.  Don’t get me wrong, this world is amazing and I want to see it all, but I will never give up Disney…NEVER!

15 reasons to visit Disneyland

 

1- It’s the most magical place on earth!

Everything about Disneyland is magical.  From the time you step foot onto the property to the time you leave, there is magic everywhere. From the music that is always in the background and the smells as you walk down Main Street USA to the attention to detail of the rides and attractions, absolutely no detail is overlooked.  Disney works really hard to bring magic at every turn. And it’s not just for kids.  It is still as magical to me as 40 year old adult as it was when I was a little girl.

 

2- Great for all ages

There are accommodations for every age at the parks.  There are things for the littlest of kids to the oldest of adults and everyone in between.  Fantasyland is perfect for the smallest kids but there are also attractions throughout the park for the little ones as well.  Indiana Jones is a favorite among adults and right next door you’ll find Jungle Cruise which is perfect for the whole family.  I have heard a lot of people say that Disneyland is just for kids and that’s just not true.  I have had as much fun with my teenage girls as I did when they were little (maybe even more!  No tantrums, nap time and strollers to worry about, and we can ride ALL the rides together!)

 

3- Unbeatable family time

One of my favorite reasons to visit Disneyland is the the family and bonding time at the parks. It is my favorite!  I feel that way about every vacation honestly.  You get away from everyday busy life and are able to focus on each other.  It’s fun to stand in line and talk to each other or bond over a churro.  And guess what the topic of conversation is long before and after the trip? That’s right…Disneyland, all the fun we’ll have/had and memories from past Disney trips as well. It makes my momma heart happy.

 

4- You’ll feel like a kid again

There is nothing better than getting out of your element and the stresses of everyday life and being able to run from ride to ride and act like a kid again.  I still get excited to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse walking down Main Street and watching the new parades/shows since we were there last.  They say age is just a number and I firmly believe that, especially where Disney is involved. Disneyland does an amazing job at catering to everyone no matter what the age.  In fact, one of the reasons Walt Disney wanted to build Disneyland was so that entire families could have a place to go to enjoy themselves.  I bet we can all agree that he succeeded in that desire.

 

5- Everything is so clean and the cast members are so nice

Disneyland is always so clean. I swear there is someone there to clean up a piece of garbage before it even has a chance to hit the ground.  And did you know that Disneyland never sleeps?  Once the guests leave, cast members come in and work through the night to fix things that need repair, plant gardens and repaint and make sure everything is in tip top condition before guests arrive the next day.  You will hardly ever notice chipping paint, weeds or anything out of order anywhere.

On top of all that, the cast members will do pretty much anything to keep the guests happy. This even includes replacing lost or broken souvenirs.  Cast members are some of the nicest people around and are great at their job!

 

6- Both parks are close to each other

One of the things I LOVE about Disneyland vs. Disney World is that the parks are so close to each other.  You can walk right out of the front gate of Disneyland and within 2 minutes be inside California Adventure.  I always buy a park hopper ticket and go back and forth between the two parks all day.  It is so easy and convenient and each park has so many different things to offer!

 

7- There is so much to do

You will never be bored at Disneyland.  In fact, we never see and do it all.  There are so many rides, shows, attractions, parades and fireworks.  I can honestly say there are things at Disneyland I have actually never seen or done and I have been there too many times to count. AND all of your favorites you can do again and again!

 

 

8- Genie +, Lightening Lane & Child Switch Pass

Genie + and Lightening Lane make it so easy to skip a lot of the long lines at Disneyland.  If you don’t know what they are Genie + is a new addition to your park ticket.  You purchase it in addition to your park ticket and it allows you into a shorter line than the typical standby queue.  With genie +, you select the next available arrival window on an attraction and you can hop into a shorter line called Lightening Lane and get onto the ride much quicker than waiting in the standby line.  You can choose one ride at a time after you enter the park but you are limited to one Lightening Lane per attraction per day. Genie + does have a $20 per day per person charge and your entire group has to purchase it if you all want to use it. Using will save you so much time waiting in line! A child switch pass is great if you have little ones who are too young or short to ride the bigger rides.  One adult waits off with the child that is too little while the rest of the party goes on the ride.  Then when they are done with the ride, with a child switch pass, the adult that waited off with the little one can go with another guest on the ride and bypass the main line.  That way everyone who wants to gets to ride and the group only has to wait in line once!  Just don’t forget to have the first group get the child switch pass before they go on the ride. 🙂

 

 

9- The characters

The look on a little kids face when they meet their favorite character for the first time is unbeatable.  The characters are so great and will take time to interact with each child, pose for pictures, sign autograph books and truly bring the character to life for the kids!  The villains are hilarious and the princesses are sweet.  It makes waiting in the long lines to see them totally worth it!

 

10- Decor and music

Every time I walk through the gates of Disneyland and hear the music it makes me melt into a ball of nostalgia. I love to hear the music and see the decorations.  They don’t overlook anything in the parks and I think that is why it is so dang special!  You will notice something new every time you go! And they are always updating and adding to the park! Disneyland will never be finished!

 

11- The food and dessert

I used to say that Disneyland did everything perfect except the food.  Well that has sure changed in the past few years.  Some of our favorites are the churros, Mickey Mouse chocolate dipped cookies, the Monte Cristo from Cafe Orleans, churro toffee and the Dole Whip to name a few. I promise there is no shortage of delicious treats all around and you’ll want to try them all!

 

12- Walt Disney’s influence

I have been to both Disneyland and Disney World and I can tell you there is just something special about Disneyland.  I truly believe it is the direct influence Walt Disney had on the park.  It just has a more magical feeling than Disney World. Walt Disney died in 1966 and never saw the completion of Disney World and you can definitely feel it. It is so cool to think about walking along the same roads he did.  There is even a light in his apartment above the fire station in Disneyland Park that still shines in his honor. Personally I think this is one of the best reasons to visit Disneyland!

 

13- Holidays and events at Disneyland

Holidays at the Disneyland Resort are the very best!  They decorate everything to the nines and spare no detail.  They even change the decor in some of the rides for Halloween and Christmas. Haunted Mansion is changed to Nightmare Before Christmas for the Halloween and Christmas seasons and Jungle Cruise is changed to Jingle Cruise for Christmas. The food is holiday themed, there are decorations for the holidays everywhere, and even the shows and parades are holiday themed.  During the Halloween and Christmas seasons they have special after hours parties such as Oogie Boogie Bash for Halloween and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party for Christmas (there is an additional cost for the 2 parties).

Disneyland also has special events happening all the time. They have their annual Food and Wine Festival at California Adventure, Run Disney events and their big anniversary celebrations where they change the whole parks theme to celebrate the big milestones. There is always something amazing happening at Disneyland.

 

14- Dreams come true everyday at the parks

Dreams come true every day at Disneyland whether it’s kids meeting their favorite characters or someone visiting the parks for the first time or 100th time.  Every visit to Disneyland is a dream come true in some way!

 

15- You’ll make memories to last a lifetime

We have so many favorite memories from Disneyland!  Like the time we had to ride Splash Mountain 3 times in a row because we couldn’t get our picture just right. Or the time we went on Savana’s birthday and the cast members made her feel like a princess all day!  Or even the time we went and it was 115 degrees so we rode It’s a Small World over and over and over to escape the heat.  You will make memories that you and your family will talk about forever!
