Grad Nites at Disneyland

Grad Nites is an annual event at Disneyland Resort for graduating high school seniors. It is an after-hours party at night in California Adventure and runs select nights in May and June. It has been a tradition at the parks since opening in 1955 and is a chance for graduating seniors to experience attractions, have some amazing treats and eats, capture fun photos and cherishing special moments with their graduating class.

Grad Nites dates in June are:

  • June 2, 5, 7, 9, 12, & 14

Expect busier days at the park on days when Grad Nites takes place as some of the options include full day tickets to either DCA or both Disneyland and DCA.

There are 3 ticket options for Grad Nites: One ticket has access to the party only, one has access to the party plus DCA and one has access to both parks and the party. Prices start at $109 per person.

Hyperspace Mountain

Hyperspace Mountain, Space Mountain’s Star Wars overlay, will run until June 2nd. After that it will return to the normal Space Mountain.

Weather

The weather in Southern California in June is typically 80’s so prepare for the heat. There is not usually a lot of rain in the summer in California but always check the weather before you go and make sure to pack accordingly!  I always recommend bringing a jacket as it could be a little chilly at night and in the morning with lows in the 60’s. As far as heat goes, dress well for the heat, take breaks, drink a lot of water and go for a lot of indoor rides.

Crowd Calendar

With school out, it will start to feel busy in June, but doesn’t hit peak crowds until July.  There are still some great times to visit in June, but overall expect higher crowds.  Several of the Magic Keys are blocked out in June so the main crowds you’ll be getting are vacationers.  Days that have Grad Nites and Pride Nites will be busier in the parks as well as weekends and any holidays, so keep that in mind.  Usually weekdays are the best time to visit. But just because the crowds are high does not mean you can’t still have a great time!

Tips for Busy Days: Plan well, buy Genie +, take advantage of rope drop and early entry (if you’re staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel) and hit rides during the shows/fireworks for shorter lines.  Also, if a ride has a single rider line, that is a great option as well.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be the least busy day of the week so if you can go on those days you will see lower crowds.

*Keep in mind this is just a prediction.  Crowds may be higher or lower on any of these days

Reservations

You still need reservations to enter Disneyland and can make those when you buy your tickets through Get Away Today or Disneyland.  Make sure the dates you want are available before purchasing your tickets.  And if they aren’t, check back every day because sometimes new reservations will pop up.

You can begin park hopping at 11am!

Disneyland Tips for June

  • Crowds will be higher as it is summer break and there are a few after hours events happening. Like I always say, use rope drop, early entry, single rider lines and Genie+ to maximize your time in the parks
  • It will probably be hot! Check the local weather and pack accordingly!
  • Make dining reservations for restaurants or utilize mobile ordering! Check for dining reservations 60 days before your trip. If you  can’t get dining reservations on your own, check out Mouse Dining! They will email you when the reservations you want pop up.  All you have to do is sign up for a FREE account at this link

June is a great time to visit Disneyland but do plan for summer crowds and heat.  Not a lot of things are down for refurbishment so that is always a plus.  The weather can be hot so be prepared for that.  All of the fireworks and parades are happening so there is no shortage of things to do during the summer. Go with an open mind and lots of patience due to it being busier with crowds and you will have an amazing time!
